B&G Industrial Services Ltd. is looking for a motivated and skilled Welder-Fitter to join our team. This hands-on position involves fitting, assembling and welding metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. We are looking for someone who values quality workmanship, precision, teamwork and safety and is eager to contribute to our growing industrial fabrication operations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

Wage: $24 – $34 per hour 

Overtime: Paid in accordance with Ontario Employment Standards Act

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Determining the appropriate equipment and welding method based on requirements
• Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
• Setting up components for welding according to specifications
• Choose appropriate tools for the task
• Operate angle grinders and other tools to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Follow all health and safety procedures
• Identifying hazards or potential hazards
• Other job duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Certification or in the process of an apprenticeship as a welder-fitter and/or experience in a similar role
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures 
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, level etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
• Work effectively in different environments
• Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work independently and in teams

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Industrial fabrication shop setting
• Exposure to noise, heat, dust and steel fabrication equipment
• Occasional overtime and emergency call-ins may be required
• PPE is mandatory at all times
