Responsibilities
The Human Resource Manager will oversee the HR/Payroll department to follow the organization’s
strategic goals and vision in compliance with mandatory regulations. The HR Manager will set clear
expectations and goals and communicate openly and clearly, to ensure the efficiency of a strong human
resource department.
•
Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business objectives
• Manage and Lead talent acquisition efforts by sourcing, recruiting, and onboarding candidates
• Proactively engage with employees in support of engagement and culture
•
Conduct sensitive investigations in compliance with legislation
•
Manage workplace investigations from end to end
•
Guide and coach their staff on sensitive employee matters
•
Manage payroll processing and HR data management
•
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance HR efficiency and effectiveness
•
Manage budgeting processes related to HR activities and initiatives
•
Oversee payroll functions to ensure accurate and timely payment processing
•
Manage team performance through the performance review cycle.
•
Maintain strict confidentiality
•
Be an active listener and able to adapt communication and leadership style to your audience
•
A keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving skills with a track record for meeting deadlines
•
Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input
from leadership
•
Ensure all policies and procedures comply with legal regulations and requirements
•
Maintain organizational charts and employee directory
Experience, abilities, knowledge, and skills required:
•
Ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate HR processes are being
used/followed.
•
Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills through experience in employee relation
management.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools and other supporting software
•
Ability to handle and manage sensitive and personal information
•
Self-starter with strong initiative, motivation and drive to improve the experience of staff
•
Experience in managing, coaching and leading a team and willingness to step in to support
department deliverables
•
Good judgment, adaptability, willingness to learn.
•
Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on
the impacts of trauma, family violence, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
•
Knowledge of Taykwa Tagamou Nation community, movement, vision, and values is an asset
Qualifications
•
Successful completion of Post Secondary and/or Degree in Human Resources, Business
Administration or related field.
•
CIHRP/CPHR/CHRP Designations are preferred
•
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in the administration/HR sector.
•
Computer competency and knowledge of office machinery.
•
First Aid/CPR, Food Handler’s Certificate, and WHMIS.
•
Ability to provide a clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Persons Check.
•
Must be licensed to drive a motor vehicle, insured to do so in the Province of Ontario and have
access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
