Normal Work Week: 40 Hours (Monday to Thursday 6:30am - 4:00pm, Friday 7:00am -11:00am)
Salary: $27.24 - $30.43 (As per the 2024-2028 Collective Agreement)
Unionized: Yes (CUPE Local 127)
On Call Required: Yes
Position Overview
The Equipment Operator will join the Public Works Department and report directly to the Public Works Superintendent. The Equipment Operator will be part of a team responsible for the operation of heavy equipment including winter maintenance & snow removal, the maintenance of roadways, sidewalks buildings & properties, collecting debris & garbage, assisting with the operations of water & wastewater and general labour duties.
The employee may be required on an ongoing basis to attend applicable training, workshops, seminars and courses at the discretion of the Employer in order to facilitate job knowledge and performance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
· Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent required
· Valid Province of Ontario Class DZ license
· Mechanical aptitude
· Good public relations skills
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Ontario Water Wastewater Certificates (or willingness
to acquire)
· Good oral and written communication skills including
Health and Safety Regulations
· Basic computer operating skills (Microsoft Office)
· Related experience
