POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ontario Works Administrator is responsible for the effective planning, delivery and administration of the Ontario Works (OW) Program for Constance Lake First Nation. This role ensures that the program is administered in compliance with the Ontario Works Act while incorporating culturally relevant supports for clients. The Administrator is responsible for financial assistance processing, employment support services, reporting, and staff supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Social Services, Public Administration or related field, relevant experience will be considered
- Knowledge of the Ontario Works Program, including both financial and employment
- Knowledge Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
- Familiarity with CLFN Programs and services and other relevant social services supports
- Budgets and Financial Management Experience
- Strong administrative, analytical, and organizational skills
- Proficient in using computers and common office software
- Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
- High level professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
- Must be punctual and self motivated
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Successful candidates must undergo drug screening & CPIC
- Willingness to participate in Indigenous cultural competency training
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the Ontario Works program complies with all provincial and federal regulations
- Oversee client intake, eligibility assessments, case management, and service planning
- Manage the distribution of financial assistance, including monthly budgets and payment processing
- Monitor program funding and prepare accurate financial and statistical reports
- Maintain confidential client records and ensure data integrity
- Oversee Non-Social Assistance Recipient (Non-SAR) applications, including funeral and burial assistance
- Supervise Ontario Works staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Refer clients to appropriate supports (e.g., mental health, addictions, housing, employment services)
- Ensure compliance and complete all required reporting to Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC)
- Identify and apply for additional funding and services to support client training and employment
- Represent CLFN in legal matters related to Ontario Works, including tribunals and investigations
- Travel as required for program delivery, training, and representation
- Perform other job-related duties as reasonably required, consistent with the purpose and responsibilities of the position.
