Medical Radiation Technologist

Position Summary: 

To co-ordinate, perform and document all activities involved in DI. Exercises professional judgment in performance of duties and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.  

Position Requirements: 

  • Must be certified with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and registered with the Regulator of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists in Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Must possess the ability to perform position responsibilities which require the precise attainment of strict limits, tolerance and standards and to make independent decisions to ensure optimal patient care and efficient operation of the department.
  • Must possess the verbal ability to communicate orally with patients, physicians and other medical personnel in order to give and receive information or instruction and to write clear and accurate technical reports.
  • Must possess the numerical ability to make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately for a particular treatment plan, to ascertain the amount of radiation reaching a particular body area.
  • Must possess the perception to review images for Quality Assurance Purposes.
  • Must have the physical capacity to perform medium work, requiring lifting and positioning of equipment and patients and the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Employment history, which demonstrates regular attendance at work.
  • Multi-Modality Certification would be an asset.
  • DR, CR and PACS Experience would be an asset.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Contributes to the development of departmental philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures.
  2. Enforces all established policies and procedures of the program.

a)     To adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures

b)     To appraise them, report their effectiveness and make recommendations to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging.

c)     To understand and respect the responsibilities of associates in the Hospital and to support them wherever possible in the achievement of their objectives.

d)     To be a team player, support the team leader to ensure optimal patient care.

  1. To provide high quality diagnostic images for all patients referred to the Department of Diagnostic Imaging.
  2. To take all necessary precautions for the protection of patients by adhering to the Federal and Provincial standards.
  3. To maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and hospital information.
  4. To develop and maintain effective working relationships with imaging staff, other departments, medical staff and community agencies and to inform them of any changes or developments which may affect them.
  5. To maintain good public relations by making the Hospital resources known to the Community and by utilizing the resources of the Community for the benefit of the patient and the Hospital.
  6. To ensure a healthy and safe working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
  7. To adhere to the CMRITO Standards of Practice.
  8.  Must possess the ability to provide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French. Individuals who do not meet the language requirements of this post are invited to submit their résumé for future consideration.

  10. All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Starting salary of $36.84/hour; $71,838.00/year (As per Step 1 of the OPSEU collective agreement.)

Option to enroll into Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
