What you’ll do in the role
· Plan, participate and coordinate cultural, recreational, and social programming for the children and youth.
· Provide children/youth with behavioral challenges opportunities to positively engage in pro-social activities,
· Provide case management to youth in need of individual support such as crisis intervention, dispute resolution and other supportive intervention.
· Monitor youth progress and cultural needs.
· Provides information, referrals and follow-up services to children and youth.
· Provide life skills support and goal planning, including educational and job readiness.
· Maintains accurate and up-to-date case files according to specified timelines and provides written reports as requested.

What you bring to the table
· Must have a Child and Youth Diploma, Social Services Diploma or equivalent.
· A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working within a social services context, preferably with Indigenous families.
· Sound understanding of harm reduction, addictions, mental health, Indigenous healing practices and history, developmental issues and high-risk situations faced by children and/or youth.
· Understanding systemic barriers faced by youth and the ability to advocate within these systems.
· Knowledge of individual, family, child, adolescent, and group behavior.
· Knowledge of local community agencies and other professional services available
· Willingness and ability to support both traditional and contemporary healing practices and experience in collaborating with Elders, Healers, and contemporary helpers.
· Must have experience in counselling, case management, file maintenance and statistical reporting.
· Ability to work collaboratively and to elicit cooperation from others.
· Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of competing and urgent demands.
· Excellent intake assessment, crisis intervention, and advocacy skills.
· Demonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving, negotiating, decision making, planning, organizational, administrative, and oral and written communication skills.
· Must possess a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s licence, be willing to travel, able to work flexible hours.
· Must produce clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
· The ability to speak a First Nation language is considered a major asset.
