Role: Step into the role of Delivery Driver, Fuel (AZ), where you'll take charge of the secure and seamless delivery of petroleum products to both commercial and residential clients within a 300 km radius of our office. You'll need physical strength and stamina to handle the loading and unloading of fuel from a variety of vehicles, whether it's a commercial straight tanker truck with a capacity of up to 25,000 liters or a straight trailer, b-train, or pup holding up to 50,000 liters. With top-notch organizational skills, you'll navigate designated routes and maintain accurate records using electronic logging devices. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fuel Delivery: Drive to various commercial and residential customer locations to pump fuel from the tanker into the customers’ tanks following pre-determined route provided. Transfer fuel from the bulk plant to the tanker by ascending the loading racks and utilizing hoses to fill the compartments. Adhere to all Highway Traffic Act regulations while driving by maintaining an accurate daily logbook, using an Electronic Logging device. Take tank dip reading both before and after offloading at any bulk plant, terminal, or in customer tanks, to reduce likelihood of spills and further complications.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete and submit TDG documents, Bills of Lading, delivery tickets, and trip summaries. Utilize technology for precise documentation of customer services rendered, ensuring accurate data capture and billing.
- Safety Compliance and Regulations: Maintain a thorough understanding of, and strictly adhere to the Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations to ensure the safe handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials. Respond and report appropriately to any emergency situations that arise. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Location: Preferably lives in Hearst, ON or other nearby areas.
- Typical schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-14 hours per day. May require taking early morning, evening, or late-night shifts, on-call during weekends or for emergencies. Must follow Hours of Service regulations as set by the Highway Traffic Act Ontario Regulation 555-06.
- Travel Requirement: 90% during the scheduled shift. Rare but occasionally overnight stays.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid Class AZ license and clean driver’s abstract required.
- Physical Requirements: Able to operate tandem Tanker or B Train truck, including automatic and manual 18-speed transmissions. Able to perform tasks associated with loading and offloading of products, including lift and carry; or push and pull items from 20 to 50 lbs. The job also demands stamina for long hours of driving, and the physical demands of loading and unloading cargo and pulling a fuel hose.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-year commercial driving experience required. Prior experience in the transportation of petroleum products and/or hazardous materials preferred.
- Technology: Able to use a smart phone to conduct basic administrative tasks.
- Skills: Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations. Working proficiency in basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication). Mechanically inclined to detect basic malfunctions on truck being operated. Safety, service, and savings mindset.
