Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated Bookkeeping/Office Assistant to support our day-to-day operations and provide excellent service to our clients. The successful candidate will assist in bookkeeping tasks, maintain office organization, and ensure smooth workflow and communication within our team and clients. This role is perfect for someone with a strong grasp of accounting basics, an interest in learning, and a commitment to maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Responsibilities:
Process daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
Reconcile bank statements and manage general ledger entries.
Assist with preparing tax documents, financial statements, and other client-related reports.
Maintain client files and update records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Support the office team with administrative tasks, such as data entry, answering calls, and scheduling appointments.
Coordinate and organize documents for corporate year-end filings.
Prepare and submit GST/HST filings, payroll source deductions, and WSIB filings as needed.
Monitor and handle communications with clients to provide updates or request information as required.
Assist with developing and maintaining a streamlined filing and documentation system.
Support special projects, as directed, to improve efficiency and client service.
Requirements:
A diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required).
At least 1-2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or office administration.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (preferred but not required)
Familiarity with tax preparation processes is an asset.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
A proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
