Northern College is seeking a Student Life Advisor/Financial Aid Officer in our Student Services department. The successful candidate will be well-organized and have exceptional communication, record-keeping, and time-management skills. In addition, the incumbent must possess effective oral and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of community, support agencies preferred.

Reporting to the Campus Manager, Haileybury this is a multi-faceted position encompasses many distinct roles and responsibilities for several programs and initiatives at the Haileybury and Kirkland Lake Campuses. The incumbent liaises with administration, staff, students and community partners to ensure the financial and emotional well-being of students and employees.

What you will be doing:
▪ Advise and guide Students through the application process required for all Government sponsored financial
assistance programs such as the Canada Student Loan and Ontario Student Loan;
▪ Ensure that the policies and procedures for all Government loan/assistance programs are followed;
▪ Provide direction to students regarding potential problem areas such as interpretation of program rules,
regulations and applications;
▪ Ensure students receive the maximum financial assistance available;
▪ Anticipate and Identify needs and provide ongoing advice and support to all students and prospective students;
▪ Administer College Bursary, Scholarship and Award Programs for the Haileybury and Kirkland Lake Campuses;
and
▪ Promote and coordinate theTuition Set-Aside Fund Employment opportunities.

What you will need to be considered:
▪ 3-year diploma in Business, Administration, Accounting, Social Services/Phycology or related/ relevant field of study;
▪ Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience including dealing with public, students and staff to solve problems and conflicts. As well as experience with financial programs and record management, and office computer programs.
