The Personal Support Worker is responsible for the daily care of medically and clinically stable patients as determined by the nurse for appropriateness of each client situation.

Rate of Pay: $29.233 - $29.909

Hours of Work:

Combination of 4 hour / 8 hour / 12 hour shifts. Applicant must have availability to work days, evenings, and nights on weekdays and weekends.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Certificate for Personal Support Worker, or equivalent is required
• BCLS certificate required
• Must possess the following:
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent work record, including attendance
  • Commitment to ensure personal safety and the safety of fellow works, patients, volunteers, and visitors

Assets:

• Oral and written proficiency in both official languages
• Recent healthcare, more specifically Hospital, experience
• Completion of the Gerontology course

Responsibilities:

• Providing care and assistance to patients with routine activities of living. This will occur following an assessment by the registered healthcare professional, of each client’s situation and condition, the activity and associated risk, and the environmental supports
• Following the established plan of care, observing and reporting any substantial findings and/or changes in patient behavior to the appropriate registered member of the healthcare team
• Assisting or providing total personal care such as dressing, toileting, bathing, grooming and perineal care
• Assisting with meals
• Assisting with mobilization, which includes ambulation, positioning and transferring including the use of mechanical lifts
• Assisting with social, therapeutic and recreational activities
• Assisting nursing staffs by answering call bells
• Charting on all care provided
• Updating transfer codes weekly at bedside and in Meditech Expanse
