Full-time, Permanent position, based in our Temagami Office.

- Is a Crown agency established in December 2020.
- Is governed by a Board of Directors representing the interests of Communities, First Nations, and Forest Industry.
- Has multiple mandates including investment of revenues in communities, First Nations, and the forest itself.

As the Operations Forester, you will work closely with the forest industry and oversee TFMC’s forestry activities including harvesting, silviculture, timber valuation, road planning and construction, budgeting, management planning, and forest inventory, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies, and directives.
The Operations Forester will assist with harvester performance management, timber marketing and development, forest revitalization projects, and community initiatives such as wildfire preparedness.
Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have:
- Registered Professional Forester (RPF) status or have the willingness and ability to obtain the accreditation within 2 years (other qualifications may be considered);
- five years of operational experience in forestry (Harvesting, Roads, Inventory, Silviculture);
- working knowledge of all Acts, legislation, standards, and management principles that apply to Ontario forest management and forest operations;
- ability to manage complex and controversial issues;
- demonstrated strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills;
- familiar with GIS forestry applications;
- strong analytical, conceptual, evaluation and problem-solving skills;
- proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365;
- a valid driver’s licence, and a vehicle suited for off-highway travel.
