The Moose Cree Group of Companies, through its subsidiary company DCS LP and Aramark, have joint ventured towards the Camp Catering services at the Agnico Mine in Detour Lake. This venture will require the services of a self-motivated individual to provide ongoing support services to the staff and management at the mine site. As a result, we have created the following position:
Position: Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) Liaison
The MCFN Liaison will enhance the Indigenous recruitment and retention at the Detour Lake Mine lodges. The successful candidate will act as a liaison with the employees and site management/ human resources as needed. Based out of the Cochrane Office, reporting to the CEO of the Moose Cree Group of Companies LP and VP of Business Development Aramark, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Primary responsibilities:
- Ensure the Safe delivery of exemplary culinary and hospitality operations in a remote location.
- Support recruitment efforts with the local community.
- Assist in retention strategies to maintain Indigenous staff engagement.
- Act as a resource for Indigenous employees, addressing non-work-related questions and concerns.
- Foster relationships by bridging Aramark and DCS Services to address employee concerns, including travel-related issues.
- Onboarding support and helping recruits transition into successful team members.
- Work with the Aramark site team to nominate local community members (current Aramark staff) as helpful guides to make first rotations a positive experience.
- Create relationships with Front Line Managers, office/support staff and client.
- Facilitate recruitment partnerships with local communities.
- Participate in the recruitment, development, and retention of the front-line team.
Specific Work Objectives:
- Increase Indigenous Partnership Presence at the Site
- Scheduled site visits with Aramark and AEM management
- Hold quarterly meetings with Aramark and AEM site leadership.
- Recognize Local Indigenous Staff to Support Engagement and Retention
- Indigenous Employees as Ambassadors
- Highlight local Indigenous staff as ambassadors to promote cultural awareness.
- Increased Community Presence
- Build relationships within the local community.
- Attend job fairs and trade shows to enhance Aramark’s reputation as a known entity.
- Recruitment & Retention
- Active community-based recruitment
- Target recruitment from MCFN, TTN, WFN and MNO community members
Qualifications
- Preference will be given to members of Moose Cree First Nation.
- Valid Class G Driver’s License.
- Outstanding communication skills with a good understanding of the Cree culture and the sister First
- Nation communities.
- Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, supervised, and unsupervised.
- Strong with prioritization and time management.
- Ability and willingness to travel to the site and nearby First Nations communities on a regular schedule
- to ensure issues are adequately addressed.
- Able to communicate ideas and thoughts effectively.
- Prepare and Organize presentations as may be required.
- A good understanding of Microsoft programs
Salary: Salary will be based on qualifications and experience per the joint venture's policies.
