Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest
underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between
Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly
automated lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as
strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’
foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and

As the Superintendent, Health, Safety & Training, you will be a vital leader in driving a strong
culture of safety and accountability across our operation. Reporting to the General Manager, you
will design and maintain effective safety systems, implement best practices, and serve as a trusted
resource on safety standards and risk management. Your role will be essential in helping us
achieve a workplace where safety is embedded in everything we do.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Safety & Compliance Systems – Develop, audit, and continuously improve safety
management systems that align with company standards and meet all regulatory requirements.
Ensure safety policies, procedures, and training programs are up-to-date and effective.
• Performance Analysis & Improvement – Lead efforts to collect and analyze safety data,
ensuring that prevention strategies are informed by insights on injury trends and safety metrics.
Use these insights to identify opportunities for improvement and adjust plans accordingly.
Forecast related expenditures and manage the budget and allocation of funds.
• Risk Management – Identify major hazards, develop risk mitigation strategies, and ensure
emergency response teams are trained, prepared, and responsive in case of incidents. Act as
an internal safety consultant for department leaders on high-risk issues. Conduct or oversee
major incident investigations.
• Safety Culture & Awareness – Actively promote a culture of safety and engagement,
providing training and advisory support to all employees. Conduct workplace inspections, lead
safety audits, and ensure teams understand safety goals and compliance standards.
• Leadership & Training – Lead the Safety, Training, and Occupational Health teams. Mentor
staff, build capabilities, and ensure that the team is equipped to meet safety and training goals.
Act as the site signing authority for MLITSD modular training and be the point of contact for
Skilled Trades Ontario apprenticeship program.
• Stakeholder Collaboration – Serve as a resource on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
and work with department leaders to build a consistent approach to safety that aligns with our
operational goals.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
• Education & Experience – Post-secondary certification in related field with 8-10 years of
safety and training management experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory role, ideally in
mining or 20+ years of progressive mining experience including 5+ years in a supervisory role.
• Technical Knowledge – Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as
well as industry-specific codes and regulations, particularly for Ontario’s mining sector.
• Leadership & Communication – Excellent ability to communicate clearly, build trust with
stakeholders, and lead through influence. Demonstrated experience in fostering a highperformance, safety-focused culture.
• Analytical Skills – Strong data analysis skills to evaluate safety performance and improve
systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential
Schedule: 8-hour Shifts on a 5/2 schedule, or 10-hour shifts on a 4/3 schedule
