General Requirements
The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continually
improving the company's health, safety, and environmental programs across all operations.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator ensures that
all employees work in compliance with applicable legislation and company policies, while
promoting a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the development and implementation of health and safety programs across all
operations-including drill sites, aggregate pits, and transportation logistics
• Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing health and safety policies and
procedures.
• Conduct regular field inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure
regulatory and company compliance
• Lead incident investigations, investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and
prepare detailed reports with recommendations and corrective action plans
• Facilitate safety meetings, site orientations, deliver safety training and awareness
programs for employees
• Ensure safety documentation is up to date and accessible, including SDSs, safe work
procedures, and equipment inspections
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable health and safety
legislation.
• Support emergency response planning, including fire drills, first aid, and evacuation
procedures.
• Collaborate with department heads and supervisors to mitigate workplace hazards.
• Monitor driver and heavy equipment operator compliance with safety protocols and hours
of service
• Assist with emergency response planning and drills in coordination with site supervisors
and dispatch teams
• Maintain open communication with field crews, supervisors, and management on safety
concerns and initiatives
Qualifications
• Certificate or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent combination of
education and experience
• 1-3 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably in surface drilling, aggregate,
mining, construction, or transportation
• Solid understanding of OH&S legislation, including MOL, WSIB, and CVOR requirements
• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel to remote job sites
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety reporting tools
Knowledge of:
* Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
* Environmental regulations applicable to drilling, aggregate, and transportation operations
