The Municipality of Temagami is Hiring a GIS/Asset Management Coordinator Intern
The Municipality of Temagami is currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as the GIS/Asset Management Coordinator Intern.
Reporting to the Public Works Clerk, the GIS/Asset Management Coordinator Intern will play a key role in implementing Temagami’s Strategic Asset Management Policy and asset management plan. This position focuses on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and asset management processes, offering an opportunity to gain professional experience while contributing to municipal development.
The successful candidate will assist with cataloging and managing municipal assets, maintaining lifecycle activities, managing GIS data, and supporting municipal planning initiatives. Duties will include conducting inspections, creating maps, analyzing data, and generating reports to support decision-making.
This is a term contract position for 52 weeks, based on 35 hours per week.
The current wage is $19.00 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Catalog and manage municipal assets, including infrastructure and facilities, using GIS systems.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of lifecycle activities, such as maintenance schedules and task prioritization.
- Perform GIS data collection, map creation, and analysis using tools such as ArcGIS. • Implement and maintain GIS tools for managing work orders and supporting municipal planning activities.
- Analyze data and generate reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with Public Works staff to streamline processes and integrate GIS systems.
- Provide technical support and assist with map creation for internal staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Geomatics, GIS, Geography, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Knowledge of GIS principles, cartography, and database management.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or other GIS software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with data analysis and metadata documentation is an asset.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team.
Additional Requirements
- Satisfactory criminal reference check from a Canadian Police Information Centre (dated within the last 180 days).
