Overview :

Under the general supervision of the Wellness Manager, the Community Aboriginal Recreation Activator is to provide and hold recreational activities for the community. This is a term position ending March 31, 2025, and may be extended based on funding availability.

Preferred qualifications :

  • Excellent written, oral and correspondence skills
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to work with people of all ages
  • Ability to work flexible hours - work evenings and weekends, when required
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • First Aid and CPR would be an asset or willing to obtain certificate
  • Criminal Record to be submitted
  • Must undergo and pass a drug test
  • Valid Driver's License would be an asset


Duties and responsibilities :

  • To increase participation opportunities by providing recreation and physical activity programs suitable to the needs and interests of all CLFN community members.
  • To increase community capacity by providing skill development opportunities to members and residents of the Constance Lake First Nation.
  • Provide reports to community, Administration and Chief and Council.
  • Plan and develop sport and recreation programs in order to ensure the activities and events are made available to all CLFN community members and residents.
  • Plan and coordinate sport, recreation, leisure and cultural activities.
  • To increase the number of volunteers assisting with the management and coordination of the CLFN community members of activities through postings, calendars and newsletters.
  • Work with agencies, community groups, recreation committee and Program Managers
  • Work with both schools within the community
  • Coordinate family fun days and fun filled weekend activities
  • Coordinate activities such as seasonal carnivals and recreational events
  • Provide and promote healthy living awareness sessions to youth in the community
  • Create a Community Recreation Committee
  • Complete a Community Needs Assessment Survey
  • Perform other related duties as required
